Nanomaterials Symposium 2009
Applications in Renewable Energy and Biomedicine
Frontiers in Materials Science for the 21st Century: Renewable energy, affordable healthcare, and a sustainable planet are all tremendous challenges that will face humankind throughout the 21st century. None of these challenges can be adequately addressed in any reasonable manner without significant breakthroughs in materials science and engineering.
We will host a two-day symposium at the University of Rochester with the overarching theme of innovation in materials science and engineering necessary in order to power, sustain, and heal the planet for the next 100 years. Keynote speakers from around the world will address the general problem of Energy, Sustainability, or Affordable Healthcare and place their work in that context.
Contributed posters will discuss innovative materials science research at the University of Rochester as well as in the greater upstate New York area. An emphasis will be placed on nanotechnological approaches to materials science. The symposium will be a "Gordon Conference" style format, with a significant proportion of the conference reserved for discussion and exchange of ideas.
