Our BS in biomedical engineering is an ABET accredited program that emphasizes fundamental engineering and design principles to prepare students to develop advances in medicine and biology.
This broad area offers many career opportunities, ranging from advanced research to engineering practice in industrial or clinical settings.

A series of nine core courses provides a solid foundation in engineering principles of biomedical engineering practice. To ensure in-depth training in engineering, our students are required to complete a sequence of four courses in a focus area of biomedical engineering. These areas of concentration are:
- Biosignals and Biosystems
- Cell and tissue engineering
- Medical optics
The program is capped with a senior design course, required for all students. Several student senior design projects have resulted in start-up patents and companies, including MonoMano Cycling and SimPore.
