Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Council
The BME graduate student group, formed in the spring of 2008, focuses on promoting scholastic and social interaction among graduate students and facilitating communication with the graduate faculty.
In a relaxed atmosphere, we interact with each other and share ideas on improving our department’s progress.
One of our main objectives is to increase mentorship between newer and more senior graduate students by creating a casual environment where they can discuss their academic and research interests.
More formal programs, such as a student panel discussion on the first year exam or our student-run summer seminar series, also increase interaction.
Additionally, our group serves as a liaison to the department’s faculty graduate committee, assisting with recruitment and other departmental events. In this role, we hope to provide a student voice in the department’s decisions. This organization and its activities foster increased collaboration within the department and improve both the training and the sense of community between students and faculty.
